Between 2004 and 2010, she presented&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Strictly_Come_Dancing:_It_Takes_Two\"><em>Strictly Come Dancing: It Takes Two<\/em><\/a>&nbsp;on weeknights on&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/BBC_Two\">BBC Two<\/a>. Since 2010, she has co-presented&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Strictly_Come_Dancing\"><em>Strictly Come Dancing<\/em><\/a>'s main results show on Sunday nights with&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Tess_Daly\">Tess Daly<\/a>&nbsp;on&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/BBC_One\">BBC One<\/a>&nbsp;and since 2014 has been a main co-host alongside Daly on the Saturday night live shows, following the departure of Sir&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Bruce_Forsyth\">Bruce Forsyth<\/a>. She has been nominated three times for the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/British_Academy_Television_Award_for_Best_Entertainment_Performance\">British Academy Television Award for Best Entertainment Performance<\/a>&nbsp;for her work on&nbsp;<em>Strictly Come Dancing<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Winkleman was also the presenter of the BBC's&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Film..._(TV_programme)\"><em>Film...<\/em><\/a>, replacing&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Jonathan_Ross\">Jonathan Ross<\/a>&nbsp;after his move to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/ITV_(TV_network)\">ITV<\/a>&nbsp;in 2010. She was the co-presenter of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Let's_Sing_and_Dance\"><em>Let's Sing and Dance<\/em><\/a>&nbsp;for its first two series with&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Steve_Jones_(Welsh_presenter)\">Steve Jones<\/a>. From 2013 and 2016 she presented the BBC Two series&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/The_Great_British_Sewing_Bee\"><em>The Great British Sewing Bee<\/em><\/a>. In 2022, Winkleman fronted the BBC reality show&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/The_Traitors_(British_TV_series)\"><em>The Traitors<\/em><\/a>, for which she received her fourth BAFTA nomination and first win.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Her trademark appearance includes heavy eyeliner and black hair with a characteristic\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Fringe_(hair)\">fringe<\/a>; she has said \"I don't think I'd have a career if I didn't have a fringe\".\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.shavuatov.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/claudia-winkleman-c-Getty-Images.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2003\" style=\"width:372px;height:558px\" width=\"372\" height=\"558\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>EARLY LIFE<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Winkleman was born in&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Westminster\">Westminster<\/a>, London to a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/British_Jews\">Jewish<\/a>&nbsp;family and she has no full siblings.&nbsp;&nbsp;Her parents divorced when she was three,&nbsp;&nbsp;both remarrying four years later.&nbsp;&nbsp;Her mother,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Eve_Pollard\">Eve Pollard<\/a>, married&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Nicholas_Lloyd\">Nicholas Lloyd<\/a>, becoming Lady Lloyd in 1990. Winkleman's father later married&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Children's_author\">children's author<\/a>&nbsp;Cindy Black.&nbsp;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Winkleman's half-sister from her father's second marriage is actress&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Sophie_Winkleman\">Sophie Winkleman<\/a>, who is married to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Lord_Frederick_Windsor\">Lord Frederick Windsor<\/a>. She also has a half-brother, Oliver Lloyd, from her mother's second marriage.&nbsp;&nbsp;Raised in&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Hampstead\">Hampstead<\/a>, London, Winkleman was educated at the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/City_of_London_School_for_Girls\"><u>C<\/u>ity of London School for Girls<\/a>&nbsp;&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Murray_Edwards_College,_Cambridge\">New Hall, Cambridge<\/a>, obtaining a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Master_of_Arts_(Oxbridge_and_Dublin)\">Master of Arts<\/a>&nbsp;in&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Art_history\">Art History<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Television career&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>1991\u20132000<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">In 1992, she began appearing frequently in the long-running BBC series &nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Holiday_(TV_series)\"><em>Holiday<\/em><\/a>, and this continued throughout the mid-1990s. This culminated in a special documentary in which she travelled around the world for 34 days reporting from Japan, India, Costa Rica and Dubai.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Throughout this period, she appeared as a reporter on other shows, particularly&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/This_Morning_(TV_series)\"><em>This Morning<\/em><\/a>&nbsp;interviewing various&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Celebrity\">celebrities<\/a>. During the late 1990s, Winkleman presented a number of programmes on smaller&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Digital_television\">digital channels<\/a>. She had a stint on the cable channel&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/L!VE_TV\">L!VE TV<\/a>, but soon left to pursue other projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">In 1996, Winkleman hosted&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/ITV_Granada\">Granada<\/a>&nbsp;programmes&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/God's_Gift_(TV_series)\"><em>God's Gift<\/em><\/a>&nbsp;(taking over from&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Davina_McCall\">Davina McCall<\/a>) and&nbsp;<em>Pyjama Party<\/em>&nbsp;(co-hosted with&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Katie_Puckrik\">Katie Puckrik<\/a>&nbsp;and Michelle Kelly).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Winkleman also presented a number of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Game_show\">gameshows<\/a>\u00a0including the dating show\u00a0<em>Three's a Crowd<\/em>,<a href=\"#cite_note-8\">[8]<\/a>\u00a0LWT show\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Talking_Telephone_Numbers\"><em>Talking Telephone Numbers<\/em><\/a>, the second series of Granada TV show\u00a0<em>God's Gift<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>Fanorama<\/em>.<a href=\"#cite_note-9\">[9]<\/a>\u00a0In 1997 she was the co-host of children's Saturday morning TV show\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Tricky_(TV_series)\"><em>Tricky<\/em><\/a>. She was also an occasional team captain on a gameshow called\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/HeadJam\"><em>HeadJam<\/em><\/a>, hosted by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Vernon_Kay\">Vernon Kay<\/a>.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>2001\u20132006<\/strong> <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Winkleman's first major television job was in 2001, on the regional discussion programme&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Central_Weekend\"><em>Central Weekend<\/em><\/a>.&nbsp;Between 2002 and 2004, Winkleman began her first daily TV role when she hosted the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/BBC_Three\">BBC Three<\/a>&nbsp;Entertainment update show&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Liquid_News\"><em>Liquid News<\/em><\/a>, taking over from&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Christopher_Price_(broadcaster)\">Christopher Price<\/a>&nbsp;on the now defunct&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/BBC_Choice\">BBC Choice<\/a>. She shared the presenting duties with&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Colin_Paterson\">Colin Paterson<\/a>, and later&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Paddy_O'Connell\">Paddy O'Connell<\/a>. The show featured celebrity interviews.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">In 2003,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Fame_Academy\"><em>Fame Academy<\/em><\/a>&nbsp;appointed Winkleman to present a daily update show on&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/BBC_Three\">BBC Three<\/a>, in conjunction with its second series. She repeated the show in 2005 for the much shorter celebrity version&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Comic_Relief_Does_Fame_Academy\"><em>Comic Relief Does Fame Academy<\/em><\/a>. Also in 2005, Winkleman co-hosted&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/The_House_of_Tiny_Tearaways\"><em>The House of Tiny Tearaways<\/em><\/a>, a BBC Three reality TV show. She also began hosting&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Strictly_Come_Dancing:_It_Takes_Two\"><em>Strictly Come Dancing: It Takes Two<\/em><\/a>, a supplementary programme to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Strictly_Come_Dancing\"><em>Strictly Come Dancing<\/em><\/a>, taking over from&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Justin_Lee-Collins\">Justin Lee-Collins<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Winkleman then presented several more\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Reality_television\">reality shows<\/a>\u00a0including\u00a0<em>End of Story<\/em>,\u00a0\u00a0and\u00a0<em>Art School<\/em>.\u00a0<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>2007\u20132012<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Winkleman presented many prime time programmes. In 2007, she took over from&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Cat_Deeley\">Cat Deeley<\/a>&nbsp;as the main host for the third series of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Comic_Relief_Does_Fame_Academy\"><em>Comic Relief Does Fame Academy<\/em><\/a>, co-hosting with&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Patrick_Kielty\">Patrick Kielty<\/a>. She co-hosted the inaugural&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Eurovision_Dance_Contest_2007\">Eurovision Dance Contest 2007<\/a>&nbsp;alongside&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Graham_Norton\">Graham Norton<\/a>&nbsp;for&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/BBC_One\">BBC One<\/a>&nbsp;in September of that year and again in&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Eurovision_Dance_Contest_2008\">2008<\/a>. She co-presented the UK selection process for the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Eurovision_Song_Contest_2008\">Eurovision Song Contest 2008<\/a>&nbsp;called&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Eurovision:_Your_Decision\"><em>Eurovision: Your Decision<\/em><\/a>, this time accompanied by Eurovision stalwart&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Terry_Wogan\">Terry Wogan<\/a>. In March 2008, Winkleman rekindled her partnership with Kielty when the pair hosted the final leg of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Sport_Relief\"><em>Sport Relief 2008<\/em><\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">In 2007, Winkleman was the face of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Sky_Movies\">Sky Movie Premiere<\/a>'s coverage of the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/79th_Academy_Awards\">79th Academy Awards<\/a>, repeating it for the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/80th_Academy_Awards\">80th Academy Awards<\/a>&nbsp;in 2008. The show was broadcast live in conjunction with the ceremony itself, running right through the night into the early hours of the morning. Winkleman has made many guest appearances on panel and talk shows, including:&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Never_Mind_the_Buzzcocks\"><em>Never Mind the Buzzcocks<\/em><\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Would_I_Lie_to_You?_(game_show)\"><em>Would I Lie to You?<\/em><\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Have_I_Got_News_for_You\"><em>Have I Got News for You<\/em><\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Friday_Night_with_Jonathan_Ross\"><em>Friday Night with Jonathan Ross<\/em><\/a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Lily_Allen_and_Friends\"><em>Lily Allen and Friends<\/em><\/a>. In February 2008, she appeared on the British version of the comedy improvisational show&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Thank_God_You're_Here_(British_TV_series)\"><em>Thank God You're Here<\/em><\/a>, hosted by&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Paul_Merton\">Paul Merton<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Winkleman narrated the 2008&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/BBC_Three\">BBC Three<\/a>&nbsp;show&nbsp;<em>Glamour Girls<\/em>,&nbsp;&nbsp;a documentary series about&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Glamour_modelling\">glamour modelling<\/a>&nbsp;in Britain.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">In March 2009, Winkleman was announced as the host of the new series of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Hell's_Kitchen_(British_TV_series)\"><em>Hell's Kitchen<\/em><\/a>&nbsp;on&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/ITV1\">ITV1<\/a>. She fronted the nightly show live from the restaurant in East London in its fourth series in the spring&nbsp;&nbsp;On 14 November 2009, she appeared on the main show of&nbsp;<em>Strictly Come Dancing<\/em>&nbsp;to present backstage, due to main presenter&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Bruce_Forsyth\">Bruce Forsyth<\/a>&nbsp;being on sick leave. She co-hosted the show with&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Tess_Daly\">Tess Daly<\/a>&nbsp;and guest presenter&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ronnie_Corbett\">Ronnie Corbett<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">On 29 March 2010, she was named as one of the new co-presenters of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Film..._(TV_programme)\"><em>the Film programme<\/em><\/a>, replacing\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Jonathan_Ross\">Jonathan Ross<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/The_Guardian\"><em>The Guardian<\/em><\/a>\u00a0stated, through her recent hosting of Sky Television's coverage of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/The_Oscars\">The Oscars<\/a>, Winkleman had \"proved both a passionate and engaging advocate of cinema\", while her husband Kris Thykier is a film producer with credits on several mainstream releases.\u00a0<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Since 2013<\/strong> <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">On 2 April 2013, Winkleman began presenting the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/BBC_Two\">BBC Two<\/a>&nbsp;sewing competition&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/The_Great_British_Sewing_Bee\"><em>The Great British Sewing Bee<\/em><\/a>, until 2016.
