Thereafter long-range efforts by Julio Enciso and Adam Lallana failed to hit the target but on 32 minutes the hosts increased their lead when in-form striker Rodrigo Muniz eluded his markers, Webster and Lewis Dunk to head home Wilson's cross, giving Albion keeper Jason Steele no chance. 0-2. The first-half ended with Albion failing to lay a glove on the Cottagers.

Half-time 0-2.

The second-half started with Albion making a double substitution, with Simon Adingra replacing Tariq Lamptey and Ansu Fati coming on for Julio Enciso. Albion came close to reducing the deficit when Dunk's goal-bound header was saved by Fulham custodian Bernd Leno. The Seagulls made a significant substitution on the hour mark, with Pascal Gross replacing Dunk, with Van Hecke dropping back to resume his customary central defensive role. The Albion then had a let-off when Baleba gave up possession of the ball to Alex Iwobi who in turn sent Andreas Pereira galloping clear of the Albion back-line but the midfielder fluffed his lines and the chance was gone.

The Seagulls flickered into life and striker Evan Ferguson had a couple of half-chances which he couldnt convert. Substitute Facundo Buonanotte was unfortunate to see his snap-shot strike the base of the post but with the visitors pressing, a Fulham counter in time added on saw winger Adama Traore score his first Fulham goal since joining from Wolves at the start of the season. 0-3. The Seagulls were clearly thinking of their forthcoming trip to Rome.

Final-score 0-3.

Match stats:

Albion had 15 attempts at goal, with 5 on target and won 6 corners, free-kicks conceded - 10.
Fulham had 12 attempts at goal, with 5 on target and won 2 corners, free-kicks conceded - 16.

TO SUM UP -

As anticipated Albion's starting line-up showed that Roberto De Zerbi was already thinking of the trip to Rome five days hence and Albion's performance at Craven Cottage reflected this. The non-winning sequence against Fulham continues. The Stadio Olimpico in Rome awaits Albion's visit.

Albion line-up (3-4-2-1):- Jason Steele; Joel Veltman, Lewis Dunk (Capt) (Pascal Gross 59), Adam Webster; Tariq Lamptey (Simon Adingra 46), Carlos Baleba (Jakub MOder 78), Jan Paul Van Hecke, Pervis Estupinan; Adam Lallana (Facundo Buonanotte 59), Julio Enciso (Ansu Fati 46); Evan Ferguson.
Subs not used: Bart Verbruggen (G/K), Igor Julio, Valentin Barco, Danny Welbeck..

Fiulham line-up (4-2-3-1):- Bernd Leno; Timothy Castagne, Tosin Adarabioyo, Calvin Bassey, Antonee Robinson; Harrison Reed, Sasa Lukic (Bobby De Cordova-Reid 88); Harry Wilson (Adama Traore 84), Andreas Pereira (Tom Cairney 69), Alex Iwobi (Willian 69); Rodrigo Muniz (Armando Broja 84).
Subs not used: Marek Rodak (G/K), Kenny Tete, Tim Ream, Fode Ballo-Toure.

Referee: Simon Hooper (Wiltshire).

Yellow Cards: Albion: 2 - Carlos Baleba, Pervis Estupinan. Fulham: 1 - Bobby De Cordova-Reid.

Possession: Albion - 71%. Fulham - 29%.

BBC Sport Player of the Match: Harry Wilson (Fulham).

Attendance: 24460.

FORTHCOMING FIXTURES:

7 MARCH 2024 - AS ROMA - away - Europa League - kick-off 17.45. "Live" on TNT Sports.

10 MARCH 2024 - NOTTINGHAM FOREST - home - Premier League - kick-off 14.00.

Jack Kaye.

6 March 2024.

"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paywalled_content":false,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false
[31

post-3296","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-jack-kayes-football-reports
["GET
