Tonight it is Yom Hashoah- Holocaust , Martyrs and Heroes Remembrance Day and all shops, supermarkets, cafes , restaurants and places of entertainment will close from around 6 pm. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Tomorrow morning at 10 am a siren will sound throughout the country. Israeli television will on show appropriate programmes for such a solemn day, when we remember the six million murdered in the Shoah. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
We really did believe the Holocaust was behind us all the time we had a strong Israel. These beliefs were tested on October 7th, when we experienced once again, a mass slaughter and we had to accept that Israel\u2019s strength was not absolute, and our safety was an illusion we had constructed in our own minds. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Not only did the enemy infiltrate our land, they managed to kill and maim thousands uninterrupted as our security services just were not alert to the attack. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
We must learn lessons from this terrible failure . It was the biggest \u201cwake up \u201c call since the Yom Kippur war, when Israel was caught once again snoozing. As they say here \u201cif you snooze you lose\u201d, and both times we lost \u2014 Big time. We had became complacent and over confident, thinking we could control a smouldering bomb. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
We now know differently. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The security of \u201cNever Again\u201d, was shaken, but not totally shattered, as within hours( albeit too many hours ) the IDF went into action and while it took many days to completely secure the area, we did have the manpower to chase the enemy out and stop them in their plan to push onto the centre of the country. It is clear now that the Nova concert was a real distraction to their plan to overrun the country, and tragically the young revellers paid with their lives. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is still impossible to process how the security services allowed nearly 4,000 young people to gather unprotected so close to a known treacherous border! <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hamas and their bedfellows Hezbollah have been bombing us ever since sending nearly 14,000 rockets and missiles into Israel, but again we have the power to defend ourselves. Even when Iran attacked us just over three weeks ago we protected ourselves. That is the wonder of Israel and the difference between now and the 1930\u2019s. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The terrorists have shown they are smarter and bolder than us. The failure to release our hostages now held for nearly 7 months (211 days) has left this country with a large festering wound. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, as said by the philosopher Aristotle, \u201cthe whole is greater than the sum of the parts\u201d, our unity will be what saves us. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The testimonies of the survivors of both the Shoah and the attacks of October 7th are of paramount importance, as we are witnessing not only history being rewritten but the present being manipulated and misrepresented to suit the narrative of the haters. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The anti-semitism that has exploded in both the UK and the US, has hammered home the message that the Jewish State is vital to our survival and we cannot safely surrender to the demands of a demonic terrorist organisation, who demonstrated their total lack of humanity when they raped our girls, burnt our babies and kidnapped and abused our mothers , fathers, sons and daughters. The count from October 7th can be added to the six million. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Here in Israel we are clinging to the belief that good will triumph over evil, but outside it looks scary and we are not seeing the police stem the marches, nor journalists calling out the haters and social media is awash with anti-semitism. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The scenes from the universities and the anti Israel demonstrations are breathing new life into what was just a dormant anti semitism. Islamists, fascists and communists have invested so much into these universities that they have managed to mould the young minds to support what they abhor: Racism and murder. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The speed of this movement in the West is astonishing, but now can see now how easily the German minds fell under the spell of Nazism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Anti semitism is the oldest racism in the world which is being successfully resurrected, making life for Jewish students and teachers virtually impossible. These countries must find the courage to fight back and stem the hatred and recognise \u201cwhat starts with Jews never ends with Jews\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We, however, must fight the fight by sending our young sons and daughters to the army and many do not return . To date we have lost hundreds of soldiers bringing the total murdered to 1,495 and over 11,000 injured and 132 remain in dark captivity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The progress we are making is slow compared to the fast moving combat in the early days of the war. The IDF continue to hunt down Hamas and PIJ operatives and to destroy their infrastructure in Gaza. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Rocket alert was sounded today on the Kerem Shalom border and it is reported that there are 10 wounded, one seriously. The crossing has now been closed, Hundreds of aid trucks a day enter through this crossing, so this is another success for Hamas. They wanted a genocide to garner world sympathy and are trying to instigate a famine by stealing the food and now forcing the border crossing to close . There is no genocide and no famine despite their wishes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
With much of their cash cut off, Hamas have now stolen millions from the Bank of Palestine, so they are not short of cash. Unless we enter Rafah, we cannot locate the remaining leaders in Gaza, but if we enter Rafah we may not find the hostages alive. Such a terrible dilemma !<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The proposed peace deal which, perhaps has legs, has not yet been agreed. Bibi has given a deadline of one week for Hamas to agree the Egyptian brokered deal. The deal would see around 33 hostages released (perhaps there are no more than that alive ), for a cessation of hostilities. Hamas are demanding an end to the war. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hamas are citing Netanyahu are the obstruction to the deal. They want to feed into the discontent they see among the people .It is reported that more than 50% of the public want the peace deal, and want Bibi and his coalition partners out. Hamas are watching the mood closely and are taking full advantage of the split in the country consequently weakening our resolve. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
We cannot fight the world if we are fighting ourselves. At this time we have a war on four physical fronts, Gaza, the north, the Houthis and Judea and Samaria A war of words and accusations on line and through the media, and a war for the hearts and minds who have been corrupted via the universities and the anti Israel media. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
We cannot and must not allow Hamas and all the lies to split us here at home. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hamas\u2019s demand for a complete end to the war, would leave them in power to re-arm. This is not something Israel is likely to agree to whether Bibi or someone else is in power.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
All of Israel want to see Hamas totally defeated, and while that may not be possible, especially if we do not have the support of the US, it is unlikely that the country is about to surrender and accept the devil on our doorstep. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Entry into Rafah is very controversial, and as yet we do not have US support, due to the large concentration of civilians in such a small area. Many have been moved but nevertheless, it could be a blood bath and Israel must be very careful not to cause collateral damages, (as it is called when civilians get in the cross fire between armies). Hamas are firing on the IDF from Rafah and the IDF is returning fire. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hezbollah continue to fire on the north and a direct hit is reported on Kiryat Shmona, with civilians injured by shrapnel. Over 40 rockets have been fired into Israel from Lebanon in the last few hours. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Israeli cabinet has unanimously voted to ban the news network Al Jazeera , closing their offices and shutting down streaming of their programmes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
After October 7th, France and Germany banned all pro Palestine marches, but the UK and the US are , in the name of free speech allowing these hate fests to continue and even flourish. The Jews of the Diaspora are now facing some of the same realities that we had forced upon us on October 7th. Anti-semitism is alive and well, flourishing and spreading like a virus and our only defence is unity and a strong and independent Jewish State. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
We must resurrect \u201cNever Again\u201d, We therefore firstly have to secure our borders, both north and south and be sure the enemy cannot catch us again with our pants down. A whole new plan is needed for Gaza so the people can have a bright horizon in a beautiful place, and not return to living under a brutal regime. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
