{"id":3625,"date":"2024-05-24T09:07:47","date_gmt":"2024-05-24T09:07:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.shavuatov.co.uk\/?p=3625"},"modified":"2024-05-24T09:08:37","modified_gmt":"2024-05-24T09:08:37","slug":"jack-kayes-albion-report-xli","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.shavuatov.co.uk\/?p=3625","title":{"rendered":"JACK KAYE'S ALBION REPORT XLI"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>19 \u00a0 MAY \u00a0 2024 <\/strong>\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">\u00a0<strong> BRIGHTON \u00a0 &amp; \u00a0 HOVE \u00a0 ALBION \u00a0 0 \u00a0 MANCHESTER \u00a0 UNITED \u00a0 2 \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"> PREMIER \u00a0 LEAGUE \u00a0 - \u00a0 at \u00a0 the AMERICAN \u00a0 EXPRESS \u00a0 STADIUM, \u00a0 FALMER.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following the surprise announcement that Roberto De Zerbi was leaving his positiion as Head Coach with\u00a0the Seagulls after this game, the Albion welcomed Manchester United to the Amex for the final game of the\u00a02023-2024 season, Albion's seventh in the Premier League. \u00a0The match was covered by BBC Radio Sussex Sport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For his last game in charge of the Seagulls, Roberto De Zerbi made six changes to his starting line-up from\u00a0the team which lost 1-2 at home to Chelsea on the 15 May, with Jason Steele, Jakub Moder, Valentin Barco, Carlos Baleba, Adam Lallana and Danny Welbeck replacing Bart Verbruggen, Tariq Lamptey, Lewis Dunk (injured), Billy Gilmour, Facundo Buonanotte and Julio Enciso. <br><br>\u00a0It had been announced on the 13 May that midfielder Adam Lallana (36) would be leaving the club at the end of this season, after four years and 95 appearances. \u00a0Lallana was made captain for this last game against United.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It had been a turbulent season for United and last time out they had beaten Newcastle United 3-2 at home on the 15 May and for the visit to the Amex, Head Coach Erik Ten Hag made one change to his starting\u00a0line-up from that game, with Lisandro Martinez coming in for Jonny Evans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Previously this season, in the reverse fixture at Old Trafford on the 16 September 2023, the Albion won 3-1, with their goals being scored by Danny Welbeck (20m), Pascal Gross (53m) and Joao Pedro (71m), whilst United's consolation was scored by Hannibal Mejbri (73m). \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last season the Albion did the double\u00a0over the Red Devils, winning 2-1 at Old Trafford on the 7 August 2022,). \u00a0In the return game at the\u00a0Amex on the 4 May 2023 the Albion won 1-0, through an Alexis Mac Allister penalty (90+9m). \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Save for the Albion supporters chanting Roberto De Zerbi's name from the start, there was a quiet\u00a0opening to the game. \u00a0The first positive action saw United keeper Andre Onana making a fine save\u00a0when deflecting a volley from Valentin Barco and then Adam Webster missed two chances to put the\u00a0Seagulls ahead, first sending a header over the bar and then seeing defender Lisandro Martinez\u00a0clear Webster's effort off the line. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An isolated United raid involving Amad Diallo, Kobbie Msinoo and\u00a0Bruno Fernandes ended with Scott McTominay firing a shot over the bar. \u00a0Joao Pedro then wasted a chance to put the Seagulls ahead by sending his shot wide of the target. \u00a0The last action of the\u00a0opening half saw winger Alejandro Garnacho elude Jakub Moder but Albion keeper Jason Steele was alert enough to snuff out the danger. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Half-time 0-0.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>First opportunity of the second-half fell to the Seagulls when Moder set-up Pedro but the Brazilian's\u00a0effort was cleared off the line by Casemiro and Adam Lallana's shot from the rebound was deflected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An emotional moment took place on 57 minutes when Lallana was replaced by Julio Enciso.
