He was a popular leader of a political terror group who had clearly published their charter , which included the total destruction of Israel. This group was, in fact , voted in democratically by the Palestinian people, once Israel had left the area in 2005, evicting 9,000 of their own citizens from 21 settlements .

Israel’s disengagement from Gaza should have been a stepping stone to a comprehensive peace, but it now looks more like a tragic mistake, but how could any reasonable thinking person at that time have predicted that the western democracies would support a terrorist regime both politically and financially and allow a rogue state like Iran to garner so much influence and power in the Middle East.

Gaza has not had any further elections since that time, but a recent poll and the public display of joy after October 7th, leads one to believe that Hamas , despite the destruction they have wrought onto the heads of the people still have significant support.

The hostages who were freed reported civilians trying to lynch them as they left the Red Cross ambulances on their way home, and as yet not one civilian has come forward with information relating to the whereabouts of the remaining 101 hostages.

So killing one leader does not kill the ideology. The western governments like to think that a two state solution will lead to peace, and ultimately it is the only way forward as the Jewish State cannot rule over millions of Arabs, but more than that the Jewish State cannot have another Arab state on its border who is committed to their destruction.

If and when the world recognises that the war started by Hamas and supported by Hezbollah and the Houthi, as proxies of Iran is a holy war and not about land, then a solution could be imposed by the moderate Arab states who have accepted the existence of Israel and now find Iran a bigger threat than the tiny Jewish State.

There have been more than a dozen opportunities since the start of the last century for the Arabs to claim more land from the end of the British Mandate. Even before the partition plan of ‘47, we had the Peel commission of ‘37. Jordan was hived off from the British Mandate area known as Palestine in the 1920’s and just because it was renamed Jordan and handed to the Hashemites to rule doesn’t disqualify it from being a very large area given to the Arabs when the area was divided up.

Each and every plan that was accepted by the Jewish State was rejected by the Arabs if it included Israel existing , whatever the size, wherever the boundaries.

The war of 1948 initiated by the Arabs to destroy the fledging Jewish State redrew the proposed borders of the partition plan, and the armistice lines of 1949 became the new borders. But still not recognised by the `Islamic world, roll forward to the ‘67 six day war, and Israel is once again, no longer safe from the Arabs who plan to destroy the Jewish State and win the war they lost in ‘48. Another war in ‘73, strengthens Israel and once again the Arabs failed to conquer Israel.

In ‘79 Israel and Egypt made peace and Israel returned the Sinai to Egypt but Egypt didn’t want the return of Gaza, which had been captured in ‘67 and thus Gaza became a thorn in the side of Israel who were left with an area populated by people who under Arafat had adopted a new identity (since around ‘64) , of a people separate and distinct from other Arabs who were now demanding a state of their own. This was the birth of the Palestinian Arabs, a nationalistic movement that would use any means to remove the Jewish State and replace it with yet another Arab state.

Israel settled Gaza between ‘67 and 2005 and turned it into a lush and prosperous area. When they evacuated the area it was flourishing and was hoped to be the first step towards self determination for the Arabs living there. But they chose terror and destruction, celebrated murder and built a killing machine and educated their poor children in Jihad, teaching them that death is preferable to life and killing Jews was their greatest honour. Mothers were proud when their sons and daughters become Shaheed. (Dying for the cause )

UNWRA which was establish post ‘48 to deal with the refugees from the Israeli/ Arab war adopted all descendants and today we have around 6 million-14 million people (if one includes their diaspora), claiming refugee status, meanwhile the Palestinian leadership demanding the “Right of Return” for all of them to scupper each and every chance of peace.

In the Middle East, the other Arab countries ensured these people had no status, so then they could be used as a proxy force against the Jewish State. It has been very successful tactic for the political fight , keeping Israel in a permanent state of conflict for over 75 years. It has been a disaster for the thousands of innocents killed on the streets of Israel, including babies in their prams, children in their homes, worshippers at prayer, making every citizen or visitor to Israel a potential target for the blood thirsty savages who are even to this day are “paid to slay: by the ‘moderate’ PA, who are mooted as the next leaders of Gaza !

We cannot and will never forget the buses blown up and the children eating pizza whose lives were violently puffed out in seconds. We now add the victims of October 7th to the long list of those murdered.

This policy has weaved such a complicated story that on the surface it looks to the world that the Palestinians are oppressed by Israel and no responsibility is laid at their door, or their leaders or at the door or the regimes who hijacked the minds of these people and left them unable to think or act in any way other than in their holy mission to destroy Jews ! The left have bought into this story and we now see anti-semitism spreading like wild fire especially among students and the young impressionable left wing thinkers who have found a hook to hang their misinformed hats.

The Europeans and the US fed the growing movement sending billions of dollars in aid, never monitoring how it was spent and turned a blind eye to the massive war machine that was being built on their money.

We now have UNIFIL (United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon ) complaining that they are in the firing line . We’ll if they had done the job they were charged with there wouldn’t be a firing line.

Intelligence has discovered that Hezbollah were in the final stages of a plan to invade Israel. Another massacre was thankfully prevented, but no thanks to the UN and their useless mission in Lebanon.

Their mission was to ensure that Hezbollah was demilitarised and to support the Lebanese. they have failed miserably in their task to restore peace and security , so they should just move out the way and let Israel clear the area and push Hezbollah back and destroy their military capability.

It has been reported that the Lebanese Prime Minister has requested that Hezbollah hands over their arms, which is a positive step towards Lebanon taking control and authority over their own country and throwing off the yolk of Iran. This cannot happen until Israel has destroyed much more of the Hezbollah stockpile of weapons . Iran will continue to try to reinforce their power so it is up to the US to tackle Iran , cut off the money and stick by the sanctions that they put in place but failed to implement .

The only aim and desire of Israel, despite a few extremists, is to live in peace and harmony with her neighbours. We cannot, however, return to the status quo, pre October 7th, and Israel and Gaza are now totally different places since the massacre.

Israel is a country catapulted back into mourning, after the greatest massacre since the Holocaust. The death toll is now approaching 1,700 Israelis. Over 400 soldiers have sacrificed their young lives in defence of the country. There are tens of thousands with life changing injuries, 88,000 are still displaced from their homes.

After nearly 30,000 rockets and projectiles fired at Israel, we find that Hezbollah still has plenty of ammunition.

The heavy fire from the north is continuing with 180 rockets fired from Lebanon this morning alone. There was an attempt to assassinate the Prime Minister and it is reported his house is damaged, but he and his family were not in residence. Sadly , one civilian has been killed in this latest barrage.

Even though the rockets continue hourly, consistently, and heavy from the north with sirens in Haifa, the Western Galilee and Caesarea, they cannot win because evil cannot defeat the light and the good.

The Jewish people have rebuilt themselves from the ashes of Europe and Israel has gathered in those expelled from Islamic countries and the Soviet Union and not one person calls themselves a refugee. Although Israel is now a country of orphans and grieving parents, it remains a country of resilience and faith- Our National Anthem is The Hope.

We just need the right minded governments of the world to support and stand strongly behind Israel, as this evil will continue on its wicked way to the whole of Europe if it is allowed to break out from the Middle East. Do not be cowards and leave the only democracy in the Middle East to stand alone.

In the words of the late Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks. “Israel is the home of Hope” , but what is that hope , we must ask.

It must be that the Palestinian people choose a new ideology and find a leader who can help them realise a new dream. Not a leader like Sinwar, who was no hero, but an evil coward who killed thousands of innocent civilians and kidnapped woman, children and old people and then hid himself among his own woman, children and elderly and died as the pathetic evil monster he was, hiding in the rubble of his self made ruins of Gaza.

Kind Regards

Carolyne Davis

Comments from Gerry Crest

In her latest post, Caroline refers to the Tel Aviv/ Highway explosive attack.

My cousin Moshe was an Eged manager.
