The match was covered \"live\" by Sky Sports and broadcast over airwaves by Talksport and BBC Radio Sussex Sport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In their previous outing Seagulls had drawn 2-2 at home to lowly Wolves and for the visit of Liverpool, the Albion made eight changes to their starting line-up from the Wolves game, with only Jan Paul Van Hecke, Igor Julio and Ferdi Kadioglu retaining their places.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last time out Liverpool had drawn 2-2 at Arsenal in the Premier on the 27 October and for their visit\u00a0to the Amex made eight changes to their starting line-up from that game, Andrew Robertson, Curtis Jones and Luis Diaz retaining their places.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Previously in the competition Albion had beaten Crawley Town 4-0 in the Second Round on the 27 August and Wolves 3-2 in the Third Round on the 18 September. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Holders of the Carabao Cup,\u00a0Liverpool had beaten West Ham United 5-1 in the Third Round.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A near capacity crowd (28441) at the Amex saw the Albion create the first chance of the game when\u00a0Simon Adingra's astute pass sent Tariq Lamptey clear of the Liverpool back-line but their debutant goalkeeper Vitezslav Jaros made a superb save at close-range to deny the Brighton full-back. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A\u00a0Liverpool counter ended with Cody Gakpo sending in a curled shot which just missed the target. On the half-hour mark Julio Enciso tried his luck from distance but his swerving strike cleared the\u00a0crossbar by inches. \u00a0Albion keeper Jason Steele then made a fine save to deny Dominik Szoboszlai from close-in and minutes later Steele was in action again, this time saving Andrew Robertson's goalbound shot with his foot. \u00a0An even first-half but no goals to show for the teams' endeavours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Half-time 0-0.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Liverpool made the ideal start to the second-half, as within the first minute Tyler Morton had sent\u00a0Gakpo clear on the left and as he dribbled into the area the Dutch international unleashed a screamer of a shot into the top corner of the Albion net. \u00a0<strong>0-1<\/strong>. \u00a0Minutes later the Albion should have equalised\u00a0when Lamptey crossed to Adingra whose powerful goalbound header from close-in saw keeper Jaros produce a magnificent save in deflecting the ball against the post. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Seagulls then saw efforts by Evan Ferguson and then Brajan Gruda both miss the target by inches. \u00a0The game was now very much end-to-end and on the counter Liverpool's Luis Diaz pounced on a mistake by Lamptey to send Gakpo clear who in turn found Szoboszlai who from point-blank range saw keeper Steele produce a superb\u00a0save to deny the latter. \u00a0The Reds increased their lead on 63 minutes when Gakpo outfoxed Lamptey\u00a0on the left before running into the box before firing in a low shot to put his team two-up. \u00a0<strong>0-2.<\/strong> \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\u00a0Seagulls pulled a goal back on 81 minutes when keeper Jaros saved from Ferguson and Adingra\u00a0reacted quickest to divert the rebound into the net. <strong>\u00a01-2.<\/strong> \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Albion's joy was short-lived as minutes later Steele saved from Curtis Jones but the rebound fell to Diaz, who gratefully ran on before firing home\u00a0for his team's third. \u00a0<strong>1-3<\/strong>. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the final minute of normal time Lamptey pounced on a loose ball in the\u00a0Reds penalty area before firing in a shot which took a deflection off Jarell Quansah before ending up\u00a0in the Liverpool net. <strong>\u00a02-3.<\/strong> \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The cup-holders were through to the quarter-finals, where they will travel\u00a0to Southampton in December. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Final-score 2-3.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Match stats: <\/strong>\u00a0<br>Albion had 19 attempts at goal, with 7 on target and won 6 corners, free-kicks conceded -8. \u00a0<br>Liverpool had 11 attempts at goal, with 7 on target and won 2 corners, free-kicks conceded - 11.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>VERDICT \u00a0- \u00a0A disappointing result for the Albion. \u00a0Errors in defence contributed to Liverpool's goals\u00a0and some gilt-edged chances were missed by the forwards. \u00a0A game for the neutral in the main, with the mistakes contributing to the excitement. \u00a0The teams meet again this coming weekend at Anfield in the Premier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Albion line-up (4-2-3-1):- \u00a0Jason STEELE (Capt);
