{"id":5296,"date":"2025-11-14T09:58:09","date_gmt":"2025-11-14T09:58:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.shavuatov.co.uk\/?p=5296"},"modified":"2025-11-14T09:59:07","modified_gmt":"2025-11-14T09:59:07","slug":"jack-kayes-albion-gazette-xiv","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.shavuatov.co.uk\/?p=5296","title":{"rendered":"Jack Kaye's Albion Gazette XIV"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">9 \u00a0 NOVEMBER \u00a0 2025 \u00a0  \u00a0 <br><strong>CRYSTAL \u00a0 PALACE \u00a0 0 \u00a0 BRIGHTON \u00a0 &amp; \u00a0 HOVE \u00a0 ALBI9N \u00a0 0 \u00a0<\/strong> -<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">PREMIER \u00a0 LEAGUE \u00a0  \u00a0 <br>a<strong>t \u00a0 SELHURST \u00a0 PARK, \u00a0 SOUTH \u00a0 LONDON.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first M23 derby of the season saw the Albion make the short trip to South London to meet Crystal Palace in a Premier League fixture at Selhurst Park, \"live\" in front of the Sky Sports\u00a0cameras and the game was broadcast by BBC Radio Sussex Sport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last time out the Albion had enjoyed a 3-0 home win over Leeds United in the Premier on the\u00a01 November and for the visit to Selhurst Park Head Coach Fabian Hurzeler named an unchanged starting line-up from the Leeds game. \u00a0It was the first time in his tenure at the Albion that Fabian Hurzeler had named an unchanged starting line-up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In their previous Premier League outing Palace beat Brentford 2-0 at home on the 1 November and for Albion's visit Head Coach Oliver Glasner made two changes to his starting line-up from the\u00a0Brentford game, with Jaydee Canvot and Adam Wharton replacing Marc Guehi (injured) and Yeremy Pino. \u00a0Subsequent to the Brentford game, Palace played AZ Alkmaar at home in the\u00a0UEFA Conference League on the 6 November, which game Palace won 3-1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In their meetings in the Premier last season, Palace did the double over the Albion, winning 3-1 at the Amex on the 15 December 2024.\u00a0In the return fixture at Selhurst Park on the 5 April 2025, Palace ran out 2-1 winners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Prior to kick-off the Remembrance Day silence and the Last Post were impeccably observed\u00a0by all. \u00a0The match started at a frantic pace as Ismaila Sarr played in Jean-Philippe Mateta but the striker's shot missed the Brighton goal by a considerable distance whilst at the other end\u00a0Palace keeper Dean Henderson made a superb save when diving to his right to deflect away\u00a0a piledriver from Diego Gomez. \u00a0Albion stopper Bart Verbruggen then made an excellent save to divert Sarr's well-placed shot. \u00a0After this start the game slowed down to a scrappier and\u00a0combative affair. \u00a0Prior to the break an Albion counter saw Danny Welbeck's pass find Yankuba Minteh but the winger's shot ended up hitting the side-netting and the chance was wasted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Half-time 0-0.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Soon after the start of the second-half Minteh's cross to the far post found Mats Wieffer but the\u00a0 Dutchman's goal-bound header was kept out by Henderson. \u00a0Then Carlos Baleba surrendered\u00a0possession of the ball to Adam Wharton, the midfielder quickly found Sarr whose low cross was met by Daichi Kamada but the resulting shot flew over the bar. \u00a0The Seagulls were then awarded a penalty by Referee Tim Robinson after Georginio Rutter appeared to have been brought down\u00a0in the box but after a VAR intervention the Referee changed his penalty decision and instead\u00a0gave Rutter a yellow card for simulation. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Palace dominated the latter stages of the game but failed to convert chances created for Kamada and substitute Yeremy Pino. \u00a0In time added on\u00a0Verbruggen made a vital save from Pino as Albion held on for a well-deserved draw. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Final-score 0-0.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Match stats:<\/strong> \u00a0<br>Albion had 7 attempts at goal, with 3 on target and won 8 corners, free-kicks conceded - 12. <br>Palace had 10 attempts at goal, with 2 on target and won 4 corners, free-kicks conceded - 10.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>VERDICT <\/strong>\u00a0- \u00a0A stalemate at Selhurst, with few highlights to comment upon. \u00a0<br><br>The third international break of the season now intercedes. \u00a0Albion come back to a home Premier League game with\u00a0Brentford on the 22 November.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Albion line-up (4-2-3-1):<\/strong>- \u00a0Bart VERBRUGGEN; \u00a0Mats WIEFFER, Jan Paul VAN HECKE, Lewis DUNK (Capt), Ferdi KADIOGLU; \u00a0Carlos BALEBA (Joel VELTMAN 75), Yasin AYARI; \u00a0Yankuba\u00a0MINTEH, Georginio RUTTER (Charalampos KOSTOULAS 75), Diego GOMEZ (Maxim DE\u00a0 CUYPER 85); \u00a0Danny WELBECK (Stefanos TZIMAS 85). \u00a0<br>Subs not used: \u00a0Jason STEELE (G\/K).
