Hello there,
I must apologise for last week, when I did not send out my normal newsletter. It was a combination of heat exhaustion and quite frankly not having much to say.
Congratulations to Maxine Gordon and Roger Abrahams and their teams who staged a wonderful 50th anniversary of the Ralli Hall in Hove becoming the local community centre for Jews in Brighton and Hove.
The organisation with which I participate - Top Hat Productions - gave a concert which afforded me the opportunity to sing the chorus of one of the happiest songs in the book - Oklahoma. Congratulations to Mike Marks who sang the solo.
What I find interesting is looking at the numbers of people looking at the website, the numbers were 70 from USA, 30 from UK, 15 from Singapore, 13 from China, 12 from Australia and 8 from Hong Kong with about 15 from the rest of the world.
I get no feedback from any of these countries, and I wonder if basically there are some AI system which looks at websites however relevant. Quite frankly it makes me wonder if it is worthwhile having the website. So I would ask people to let me have some feedback about their interest if any and about themselves.
The interesting factor is that the pages they read are largely about recipes and some personalities, with a British actress, Felicity Kendal being the favourite with others reading Jack Kaye's Football commentaries which may be more than a year old, or versions of Carolyne Davis' news from Israel which may also be more than a year old.
The Letters from Hollywood and Celebrities also retain their interest, specially as now it is easy to look up which personality is being involved. This week we commemorate the life of Mel Brooks who was 100 years old last weekend. He is one of the great Hollywood producers and his life story is fascinating.
I am refraining from comments on the World Cup football. However it is great that a huge live audience from every corner of the world is coming together, mostly in peace and harmony.
In the Middle East, the war/ceasefires go on, but what major differences are happening, I do not know. I just hope and pray that there will be less innocent death on all sides.
This week's Parsha is Pinchas, and follows the preparations for the Children of Israel to go into Canaan, and some of the problems which arise as they prepare, as well as the preparation for Moses to hand over leadership to Joshua.
Anyway, I hope you have a great Shabbat and fine week to follow
Best wishes
Nick
