Shavua Tov

Lots of new material this week

July 21, 2023

Hello all, good to have you along.

This week, I am pleased to say that we have a full update. On the subject of Shabbos, this week’s Parsha is Devarim, which is the first of the last book of the Torah, and is the countdown to the entry into the “Promised Land” and also to the death of Moses.

For food, we have a Tabouleh salad recipe sent to us by Corinne Rachelle - she is amazing in never letting a week go by without sending me a contribution.

Art and entertainment figure strong this week. In our Celebrities section, we have the story of Amadeo Modigliani. His work is quite unique. He is just one of quite a few very well known Jewish artists who we will feature in the coming weeks.

I hope you have seen the contribution from Carolyne Davis explaning the situation in Israel. It is particularly informative and tell you things you certainly don’t hear from the BBC.

I am delighted to have a new piece from Barbra. She has not been very well recently and I am so glad she felt strong enough to bring us up to date on matters in Hollywood, particularly the strike which is going to affect the whole industry.

We are also featuring Sacha Baron Cohen. His story is almost unique and puts him right up there with the giants in Jewish Show-biz. We not only have his story but several excerpts of his performances.

In the football videos, we have more news about Brighton pre-season. If you did not know, SKY SPORT are televising the matches the Seagulls are playing in USA, starting with Saturday evening at 11pm when Brighton, still with Moises Caicedo play Chelsea.

Many happy returns to Roberta Raphael-Harris whose birthday is on Saturday.

To the rest, I wish Shabbat Shalom and Shavuatov

Nick.
