Shavua Tov

Moving Towards the YomTovim 3

September 15, 2023

EREV ROSH HASHANA

Finally the day has arrived! This Shabbat many will attend Shul to greet this special occasion. Others will be having a special dinner with friends or family, and other will quietly usher in the season. To all I wish you a Sweet New Year and a year of good health end enjoyment.

I am delighted to say that we have updated the Jewish Music to be suitable for the time of year. Some pieces will be new to you, others will seem familiar but be different, and then there is Kol Nidre, one of the most beautiful songs evoking memories of years past as well as this year.

I am grateful to Corinne Rachelle Silver who has come up trumps again with her Beef Carrot and Prune Tzimmes. It looks delicious and I think it would be something on which I personally would like to break my fast.

I want to offer my special best wishes to all our local Rabbonim. This is a very hard working time for them, and however enthusiastic they are by the time the last note fades away on Yom Kippur, I bet they will be exhausted.

I also wish the best of luck and skill to all those who are blowing the Shofar. May your notes come out loud and true and inspirational.

May I wish belated Happy Birthday to Angela Samuels and to Hazel Sanger - Hazel may you continue to dazzle us with the beautiful pictures of your walks around Sussex and England.

And so all that remains is for me to wish you

L’ Shanna Tova U metukah
