Shavua Tov

Chag Sameach Simchat Torah

The Holy days come to a conclusion

and normal life returns

I am not sure, that I can ever remember a Succoth with less rain and therefore using the Succah was a great pleasure. I was able to eat in 3 Succahs tis year, and on Sunday in Worthing it was absolutely glorious.

Last night, I went in the Succah in New Church Road, it wasn't the warmest place, but very pleasant. It was the first time that I had had an evening meal at Novellinos. I was able to change the standard offer, so that instead of a Salt Beef sandwich I had it with chips and greens. It was very nice. It was followed by chocolate brownies and ice cream served in a "knickerbockerglory" glass. I understand that the restaurant is going to be open in the evenings on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.

Other people were visiting the Centre to watch Brighton and Hove Albion's performance against Marseille - 2-2..

Of course the shop was open, and my hostess for the evening was able to buy her Cholla and a boiling chicken.

Going back to the football, Jack Kaye has written 3 full reports concerning Brighton's games against Chelsea, AEK Athens and Bournemouth. All make great reading and give you the relevant information, not available unless you are there.

At the same time as we do this we also have the video football excerpts from the disaster at Aston Villa and last nights very creditable draw with Marseille in France.

Meanwhile Corinne Rachelle's contribution this week is Bean and Barley Soup. It looks tasty and very good for warming you up on cold days!

Our celebrity this week is Leonard Bernstein. We have not only his edited biography but some of his music which you may not have heard before. This inclides a Kaddish Symphony and the Chichester Psalms. I hope you will enjoy it.

I also hope if you have not read her story yet, you will take time to read Barbra Paskin's account of her family of cockateels and budgies with which she lives. It is really charming and very well written, and available under Letter from Hollywood

All that remains is for me to wish you
Chag Sameach Simchat Torah,
Shabbat Shalom
Shavua Tov

Nick
