As I write on a sunny Friday morning, I hope you were not affected by Storm Ciaron. The threats of the Met Office were enough to take one's mind of Israel for a short while. I pray that any flooding will have gone down, and you did not suffer any damage to your homes or gardens.
I wonder how many people still get excited by November 5th and fireworks? If you do Corinne Rachelle has produced a great recipe for home made tomato soup to take wo warm you up if the night is frosty.
I am glad to say that we have Jack Kaye's report on the Albion games against Ajax Amsterdam and Fulham last week. His views are always very considered despite being an avid fan.
Meanwhile Carolyne Davis has written another commentary on the situation in Israel. It is as usual professional but rather heart-breaking. We are very lucky to have her. Her column is under Jewish Life & Israel, and entitle News from Israel. Under News from other Sources we have more reports gathered by other people including Gerry Crest, who I thank. These will be updated during the week.
We are also pleased to carry the Community Update published by the Sussex Jewish Representative Council. It gives details of events happening this weekend and you should read it. It is under News from Other Sources.
I hope that the rise in anti-Semitism is not affecting you personally. I don't know whether I am pleased or sorry that the news channels carry so much of war in Gaza. Every time they show what a disaster it is for local people or children crying it helps to create anti-Israel and anti-Semitic feelings. What they rarely say is that this is happening because Hamas started it, wanted it, and are doing nothing at all to protect their people.
Nick
