It’s an interesting and worrying perspective spending time in the Europe, while a war is raging in Israel.
The BBC , despite it having been proven to have tricked Princess Diana to spill the beans and nearly bringing down the Royal Family, remains a trusted institution and the “go to place” for most Brit’s news.
Israel on the other hand is always eyed with suspicion, and there is still, a natural lean towards the Arabs, even though the Arabist dominated “Camel Corp” has been replaced by a more diverse cohort of diplomats .
The appointment of David Cameron, the pompous, out of touch Lord, who was really the architect of the UK’s current political circus, is singing like a song bird about Israel’s obligations and is unwittingly promoting anti-semitism as well as any Nazi in the 1930’s . He couldn’t even judge the populous of the UK, and had to leave office prematurely due to his foolishness, and now thinks he is some expert on the Middle East. Ushering him back into government, just brought the Sword of Damocles, even closer to the neck of the Conservatives while he is trying to curry favour by supporting the nonsense sprouting by the crazed left and the Islamists.
It really is time for the silent majority to speak up, but they are being poisoned by “Soviet styled doublespeak and Nazi style Jew hatred”. Melanie Phillips: Israel’s Orwellian nightmare.
So, it is little wonder that the buzz words in the UK that are flooding the media have now moved from the disproven although still suggested genocide, to famine. Interestingly, someone asked us, after enquiring how things are in Israel, “are you saying the BBC is lying, we’ve always trusted them”. They further enquired, which I thought showed intelligence, “Where should we get our news from and how do you know your version of events is correct ?”. They had a very valid point.
In Israel, being such a small and closely connected society, we generally get our news from Primary Sources and we are not sprouting propaganda that we heard on news channels. We are the ones on the end of the phone calls from family and friends and soldiers.
Walking peacefully, in the park, the phone rang, and we knew before the country knew of an attack, as our cousin was there and helped to save the life of the injured. We sit with the Mothers of the soldiers and try to chat so they don’t worry too much, knowing their children are fighting on the front line, in mortal danger.
We see the sky above us with the remnants of ballistic missiles and phone our friends sheltering in their safe rooms as the rockets boom all around. This is the daily reality of every person in Israel. We chat to the displaced, especially in Eilat, where so many have been taking refuge.
We knew the 1.479 murdered, some of us went to their funerals . They were the family and friends of everyone. We know the 134 kidnapped either personally or relatives of our close friends and families.
We try to comfort those that survived, they are our best friends . We watch the fear in our own small grandchildren who run to shelters at the slightest sounds, and we understand that some days our friends cannot string a sentence together because the trauma is so overwhelming .
We hear from the soldiers about the difficulties in Gaza, where a terrorist group is holding all the civilians as hostages to protect themselves. Those civilians either support Hamas or are too afraid to inform on the whereabouts of our hostages.
The BBC do not know what we know. They are not in Gaza and they speaking only to the Hamas health authority.
Tragically, people are being killed, it is a war, but the numbers that Hamas report have been disproved. Abraham Wyner, professor of statistics and data science at the University of Pennsylvania, has written that the daily totals increase too consistently to be real.
There is no breakdown of those killed by friendly fire, and no explanation why mostly women and children are being reported killed. Are all the men in the tunnels leaving their families without protection ?
The photos of starving children being screened around the world cannot be verified, and one must look at those poor children and then look around at the adults, who are not starving. The photos of the starving children are most likely very sick children dragged from hospitals to be part of the campaign. The hospitals are mostly under the control of Hamas.
There is ample evidence showing the skills of Pallywood, the propaganda film making entity that uses make up and old doctored photos to paint Israel as the devil, when in fact, they are the haters and killers and playing the world with great success, portraying themselves as victims after having initiated this war and been totally aware of the consequences of attacking and invading Israel.
The cries that went out when Israel was first accused of attacking the Shifa hospital were never properly retracted, even when it was proven that the hospital was the central command for Hamas and the first bomb that hit nearby was launched by Hamas, and not Israel as reported.
The hospital was thought to be have been cleared weeks ago, but was quickly reinstated as a terror command centre and the IDF have re-entered finding hundreds of Hamas fighters and killing 200 operatives and at least 10 of their top men. 500 have been arrested, and hopefully they will yield information on the hostages. The IDF have moved all patients to a safe area, away from the emergency rooms that are a battle field.
The captured terrorists are now admitting to the rape and violation of women on October 7th, even while the UN is still not sure that sexual violence was used a weapon, despite the Hamas recordings of young girls being dragged dripping from blood between their legs. 19 women are still being held and no normal human being can even direct their mind to what atrocities they may be being forced to endure!
More tunnels are being discovered. It seems the whole of Gaza is standing on another city underground.
Despite all the threats from the US administration and the UK, Israel is determined to enter Rafah, but has delayed plans until after Ramadan and to ensure civilians are moved to a safe area.
As the occupying power, Israel is under a humanitarian obligation to feed the civilians and hundreds of food trucks are entering Gaza. Food is available and more is entering than before October 7th except in Gaza City which was ordered to evacuate . Hamas are stealing the supplies and charging exorbitant prices, but as the IDF takes more control and eliminates more Hamas, the situation should improve.
The war in the North is escalating with non stop missiles. Israel is returning fire but trying not to escalate matters more and using precision bombing to take out military infrastructure in Syria and Hezbollah positions in Lebanon. The IDF are carrying out exercise drills which could point to full scale war in the North. The residents are still mostly evacuated to safer areas.
Suggestion for the “day after” to include the PA, are just ludicrous. It is not the first time that either a PA policeman or security official has been caught trying to carry out a terror attack. This week, a PA security official tried to open fire on a bus load of children. Thankfully, the bus was bullet proof and only one child was injured. We cannot contemplate allowing the poachers to become the gamekeepers, as we know from bitter experience, that these people are not to be trusted and harbour murderous intentions.
The calls for a ceasefire are never directed to Hezbollah or Hamas, but only to Israel, who dare not surrender at this time, as their destruction is still paramount and possible until all of Gaza is cleared of Hamas, and Hezbollah pull back from the border and stop attacking Israel.
The plight of the hostages has made no further progress, as Hamas demands a total and permanent ceasefire, which with the release of thousands of convicted murderers held in Israeli jails, would allow them to regroup and continue to fulfil their charter to destroy Israel.
So in reply to “Is the BBC lying?” Yes, they are . They are participating in a campaign of disinformation and skewed reporting that does not represent the reality on the ground and takes no account of the threat Israel is facing. The hostages are all but forgotten and Israel’s image in being manipulated into a pariah state run by madmen. The praise of military experts applauding the care and the record of the IDF is whitewashed and ignored.
No quarter is given to the IDF who are fighting an unprecedented urban warfare against a death cult. Israel is being held to a different standard to all other democracies, and the actions of Putin, who is waging war against Ukraine is relegated to the back pages.
The cancer of the King and Princess Kate, to whom we wish a speedy and full recovery have filled the pages of the papers this week, giving Israel a breather, but for sure once the interest in the health of the Royal Family becomes old news, Israel can expect some more relentless demonisation that feeds this newly emerged anti semitism that is now so fashionable.
We can only pray for a quick end to this awful war and the return of the hostages will be the first step to ending the conflict.
Shabbat Shalom
