Shavuatov.co.uk is a website aimed at all parts of the Jewish Community, whether aligned to a particular Synagogue group or non-attending. Our base is Brighton and Hove and Sussex, but we hope to interest people whether living there or having the community as their roots.
I hope people do not mind that I am not a machine, so liable to all too many human errors. My error this week, was to forget to update the home page!
I hope our content this week is bright and cheerful. For instance we have Jack Kaye's report on the Brighton defeat of Liverpool which was truly historic; well worth the read. Then there is the contribution by Corinne Rachelle - the recipe for a scrumptious and kosher Beef Stroganoff.
For those who are not going to shul, there is the chance to read in the Chabad group the summary of this week's Parsha Va'iera, whilst under Students and young people Rabbi Lewis presents his commentary on the section.
The best news of all to me is that Barbra Paskin, our Hollywood correspondent is now feeling somewhat better after her illness, and has written about Lucille Ball, a beautiful American comedienne who in the 20th century had audiences in hysterics with her brand of humour.
For those of you who are free on Tuesday, why not join our online quiz on Zoom. The questions are very varied from biblical to sport and from Hollywood to politics. This Friday is Holocaust Memorial Day. I am pleased to say that it is being remembered all over the county. We have a list of times, dates and locations under the Community heading. There will be ceremonies in Brighton and Hove, Burgess Hill, Crawley, Haywards Heath, Shoreham and Worthing. If we hear of any more we will add to the list.
