Carolyne's Thursday report

April 19, 2024

It is an uncomfortable day today, with sharav conditions. The air is so thick we cannot even see the mountains of Jordan or Egypt, let alone Saudi Arabia. It makes you feel heavy and listless, and the only noise around our neighbourhood today is the sound of splashing water as people clean their houses.

As we hurtled towards the Shabbat HaGadol, which is the one before Pesach, the situation remains very much the same today as yesterday.

Hezbollah continue to send  suicide drones and rockets  on the north, and the world says nothing . The plight and whereabouts of the hostages remains unknown and the world says nothing.

The IDF continues to find terror sites in Gaza and the world says plenty but not against the terrorists .

President Biden seems as confused as ever, reportedly confusing Haifa with Rafah ! He has stated that “now it is not the time to abandon our friends”, but it would be handy if he knew who his friends are and not confuse them with the enemy.

The committed stance of the US that Israel cannot go into Rafah for concern over the civilians has evaporated,  as that concern has morphed into a larger concern that Israel might retaliate against Iran. Therefore, the US, is no longer so concerned for the civilians in Rafah and has given Israel the “go ahead”. What they do, however,  seem to have forgotten are the words of Golda Meir “ We refuse, absolutely, to be the only people in the world which consents to having its fate decided by others .”

These words hold true today, and Israel will make her own decision in her own time.

We may find the US begging Israel to attack Iran, as today the Iranian commander warns they could review their nuclear doctrine! Alternatively, the US might just make another sneaky deal with Iran who have made an offer to let US ships pass if they stop supporting Israel.

It is reported that Iran sent a spy ship into the Red Sea,  but it quickly retreated. They are quite obviously running scared as they have removed their IRGC commanders from Syria.

As we prepare to tell the story of Passover, it will no longer be ancient history, as today our people are held captive by Hamas and we send the same  message to Hamas as we did to Pharoah. “Let my people go”.

PS the computer and the phone are as confused as POTUS  as they think we are in Cario but T-G we are in Eilat - GPS is scrambled .
