Shavua Tov

Shabbat Shalom on 28th February

February 28, 2025

Good Shabbos to all, as we exit Winter into Spring with some sunny days forecasted.

What a sad week it has been, dominated by the funeral for Siri Bibas and her two children. Carolyne Davis in her column in News From Israel describes the whole situation in a heartbreaking way. Not only does she cover this week's activities, but she goes back and tells us of how the murder of children was a matter of course to Hamas thugs

She further informs us that even Saudi Arabia and UAE are saying that Hamas has brought shame to their religion and are refusing to contribute to the rebuilding of Gaza until Hamas are destroyed.

The BBC had 3 programmes marking the run-up to 7th October. In what seems a BBC tradition, they go out of their way to be fair to Israel, Fatah and Hamas, but they forgot to show what happened on 7th October and how far it went in Hamas cruelty murder and war mongering!

I am pleased to know that BBC's despicable documentary on Gaza, has been castigated by many authorities including the government.

The first stage of the "Cease Fire" has now been completed. Discussions are starting for the 2nd stage, and the cease-fire is being maintained for the moment.

To turn to brighter moments, thank you to Jack Kaye for his Albion Chronicle 29, where he reports on Brighton's 4-0 win against Southampton, and I suspect we shall be receiving soon his Chronicle 30, where Brighton beat Bournemouth 2-1 to up to 8th place and nearing a place in European competition next season.

Personally I have known the name Cock-a-Leekie most of my life, but I have never tasted it and appreciated its ingredients. This week Corinne Rachelle tells us how to make it and describes it in a mouth-watering way. Thank you.

This week's Parsha - Terumah - tells us of G-D's commandment to build the Tabernacle. It goes into great detail as to how only the best materials will be used. I have to admit, that I always wondered where they got those materials in the desert. However a few weeks ago I saw that the Parsha included the portion where the Children of Israel before the 10th plague, were encouraged to borrow gold and silver and other goods from their Egyptian captors. Then the 10th plague came and they had to make a quick escape from Egypt and presumably "Forgot" to return their borrowings.

I am delighted to say that things are going well at Top Hat Production, and their Magical Time show promises to be a superb production. It would be great if we could fill the Ralli Hall for our two performances on the evening of 22nd and matinee of 23rd March.

Meanwhile I hope those going to the Barn Dance at Ralli Hall on Sunday will have great fun.

Meanwhile Shabbat Shalom

Nick
